Best of January ’11

The first list of 2011 is here. This month I have spent a lot of time putting coals in the oven and working on a new and cool website project that will hopefully be ready at the end of February. To do all this I need to have fresh music. I found 15 great tracks that I want to share with you this month. You can see the list and buy the tracks on Juno. Like normally I did not align the tracks in a special list order and the player as well does not have any particular order. Have fun.

Loin Brothers: Garden Of Vargulf (Tornado Wallace remix)
Great basswork from Tornado. I don’t miss a track from him. There are two in the player.

Mateo & Mateos: Want You Tonight
New deep house tune from New York is very often good, very basic pumping style from the brothers. My first house records in 1998 were a couple of ones with these guys and that’s how I learned how to beat mix. Actually, I have not heard so many things from them since 2000 so I was very pleased hearing this one, it brings me back.

Atjazz/Robert Owens: Love Someone (G Family remix)
Very minimalistic from Atjazz. If there is someone who can sing house, Owens can … and Arnold Jarvis. There are also a couple of other mixes, but this one really does it for me.

Kyle Hall: After All
Kyle gives a lesson how to drop the bass, amazing track.

Herb Martin: Soul Drum
I’ve been looking for the soul drums on vinyl since 2004. It came out on one of my all time favorite labels, Ibadan. Have not found the vinyl since then and have to be satisfied with the digital version, it’s not bad.

Daniel Wang: Shadows
Not a new track but one of my favorites from Daniel. Strange atmoshphere but very very good. Rush Hour have been very occupied with re-releasing nice stuff.

Aril Brikha: Groove La Chord (Deetron remix)
Big techno tune from about 10 years ago. It’s being re-released now with 3 new mixes. Deetron does the best work.

Little Shout!

That’s it for now, I just want to tell you about my good friend Árni Kristjánsson who recently put a new website online, where you can view his work. Árni is ” The Gardenparty DJ of 2010″ and he has of course some kick ass dj mixes online. Go check it out. Thanks for reading.
